Parsing is like reading and understanding a file. When you upload an image, the system needs to "read" the file to figure out what it is, like its type (JPEG, PNG, etc.), size, and other details.
A parsing error means the system tried to read the file but couldn’t understand it. It’s like opening a book and finding the pages are blank, the text is scrambled, or it’s written in a language you don’t recognize.
A simple reload of the page would fix this issue.
In Smartlead, this error will occur when you stay on the sequences [editor active] tab for more than 5 minutes and then try to upload.
Apart from the above fix, also consider the following if the error persists:
1. Check the Image Format
Ensure the image is in a supported format (e.g., JPEG, PNG, GIF, etc.).
2. Check the File Name
Remove special characters, spaces, or non-English characters from the file name. Use a simple name like image.jpg
or photo_123.png
.
3. Verify the Image Encoding
Ensure the file is not corrupted. Open it in an image viewer to confirm it's intact.
If it doesn’t open, try re-saving the image using an image editing tool.
4. Try a Different Upload Method
If the platform allows multiple upload methods (e.g., drag-and-drop or file browser), try the alternative. For example, in Smartlead, you can also add a link to the image.
If none of the above resolves the issue, reach out to our customer support team.
